The Fair Needs Your Help!

Since 1955, the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair (GSDSEF) has provided an inspiring experience in science and engineering for San Diego and Imperial County students, motivating them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Putting on the Science Fair takes an entire year of planning, fundraising, recruiting of volunteers, judges, screeners, STEM experts, and continual supporting of students, teachers, and schools. Additionally, we support students for the California Science and Engineering Fair and the International Science and Engineering Fair. Volunteers are needed for setup, during fair day and teardown.

To sign up as a volunteer, click here or email volunteer@gsdsef.org with any questions.

Volunteers need to register in advance and will be given an official name badge to wear during Science Fair Week. Sorry, but we cannot accept walk-on volunteers on Judging Day.

As a Volunteer, you can...

  • Volunteer as little or as much as you want!
  • Fulfill Community Service Hours or Internship Hours.

No science experience necessary! Any and all talents and skills are greatly appreciated!!

During Fair Week, we need volunteers who can help with:

  • Logistics - storage facility items pick up and return, setting up and tearing down of the Science Fair
  • Parking and Traffic - morning and afternoon
  • Student Supervision DURING LUNCH TIME
  • Project Set Up and Check-In
  • Family Science Day activities
  • Awards Ceremony banners set up and removal
